The state government has formulated guidelines for OSSTET which would be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education.
With a large number of teaching posts laying vacant in different schools across Odisha, the state government has decided to conduct Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Eligibility Test (OSSTET) for recruitment of high school teachers.
This was stated by School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra here today.

He said the state government has formulated guidelines for OSSTET which would be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).
Mishra said the Board will prepare procedure by November this year to conduct the recruitment test. Approximately, 7,000 posts for teachers will be filled up by the state government in a phased manner, Mishra indicated.
Recruitment exams for teachers are conducted across the country by various examination boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board (UPSESSB), and the Telangana’s State School Education Department, among others.
In June this year, BSE Odisha had released a notification for the recruitment of teachers ia the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2016 on its official web page.
Only those candidates who had a bachelor’s degree or a diploma were eligible to apply. the last to apply was July 11, 2016 and the fee was to be paid by July 12.


The exam consisted of two paper out of which candidates could have appeared for only one paper. If a candidate had applied for both the papers, his or her candidature would gave been disqualified.
